| Laying to the South of the city of Brisbane, the town of Algester was heavily developed after Wolrd War II and due to the expansion of the Brisbane Metropolitan area it has seen recent residential development as the city sprawl extends to meet the Gold Coast. Most of the area known as Algester forms part of what is known as the Brisbane Agricultural Reserve which once took up almost all the area South of Brisbane. Due to population demand and land values generating more profits as development opportunities than agriculture the tracts are slowly being eaten away to make room for modern housing projects.
