Not only is Canberra convenient to Sydney and Melbourne being less than a one hour flight it is a great stepping stone to the Australian Snowy Mountain ranges about 3 hour drive from the centre of town.  The ranges include such fabulous ski reosrts as Thredbo, Perrisher and in Victoria Falls Creek and Mt Hotham
