Information about Wanchai

Wanchai is most famous for its red light district popularised during the Vietnam war by troops on R&R.  It was home to the famous Suzie Wong bar but this has been far outstripped by the many "Girlie Bars"  where Chinese mama sans and alluring young ladies from Thailand and the Philippines endeavour to part the fools from their money.  Don't go where angels fear to tread!

Away from the Bar area of Lockhart Road Wanchai offers a culinary paradise particularly after crossing (with care) Gloucester Road to the Great Eagle Centre and adjoining buildings which offer a plethora of fine dining.

For the computer and electrical buff you could spend a day at the Wanchai computer centre (above McDonalds)  on the intersection of Hennessy Road and O'Brian Road.  Up the escalator you will find two floors crammed with vendors of the very latest in electrical and computer technology.
